Chamberlin appeared seemingly overnight with their release “Bitter Blood”. I learned about the band via Scott Tournet, lead guitarist for Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, who produced the record and was a big fan. Subsequently GPN took Chamberlin on the road with them, songs were selected for a few high profile TV shows and nowthe band is poised for even bigger things. This show is a rare opportunity to see a total rock band slow it down and make it acoustic – it should be a real treat. Chamberlin frontman Mark Daly’s vocals are powerful but distant, echoing through the vast Vermont forest. Chamberlin picks their spots for loud rock moments, such as the heavy riffing in “Souvenirs” and the chorus of “Fools,” where arpeggios give way to crashing guitars. “Paper Crown” features an R &B beat soaked in tremolo. The band thrives in the more subtle moments, though – musical breaks, layered vocals – like the beauty of the last remaining light disappearing through the evergreen canopy. At heart a flat out rock band, we’re excited to see them slow it down and bring out the vocals and craft in their powerful songs.

Last fall Roll Call Records’ Chamberlin unveiled their five track covers EP, aptly titled Chamberlin Cabin Covers EP. Their latest effort finds the band adding their recognizably laid back flair to some of today’s most popular songs by: Passion Pit, Cults, Vampire Weekend, Kanye West/Bon Iver, Foster the People. Recorded this past summer in their cabin tucked away in Vermont, Chamberlin chose which songs to cover based on fan voting through their official website.

“Chamberlin has fun with the material but also respects the melodramatic heart of these modern rock tunes, singing them sweetly over arrangements that show off the underlying strengths of each. The EP is icing on the cake for Chamberlin, who put out one of the finest debut albums of 2011, Bitter Blood, produced by Scott Tournet of Grace Potter and the Nocturnals.” – JAMBASE
